As one of the popular casino games, it is little surprise that there a number of variations of Blackjack. Even so, more casinos are creating their own variants of the game. The most common ones are the Atlantic City and European Blackjack games.

Here is a short list of the well known Blackjack variations: Atlantic City Blackjack, European Blackjack, Vegas Strip Blackjack, Double Exposure Blackjack, Vegas Downtown Blackjack, Multi-Hand Blackjack, Blackjack Switch and Single Deck Blackjack.

The game is among the next generation of popular card games in casino halls after poker. The variations of Blackjack games played within and outside Casino's guidelines depend on the setting.

Blackjack is arguably a very popular card game that is presently being offered in gaming houses and in online gambling rooms. It is one game that requires a great deal of concentration, steely nerves, the keen eyes of an eagle, and more luck thrown into the mix. It is also known as "21" in some Las Vegas casinos. The main objective of the game is to have a hand with points that are as close as possible to 21 towards the hand of the banker, although it doesn't have to be more than 21.

The blackjack game is always played with between 2 to 7 players; counting together with the game's dealer. The term "blackjack" is well known in Britain and used for a similar game to the common one called Crazy Eights. There, the American blackjack game sometimes called the Pontoon even though it is strictly played with some different rules. Here are some variations you may find in various gaming halls:

  1. Dealer Stands on Hard 17: This type is a classic game that is the most common and uses the blackjack rule. Under this type, the game's dealer stands as soon as their score gets to 17 or more but not really having an Ace in hand.
  2. Dealer Stands on Soft 17: In this type, the dealer features a score of 17 or higher and one ace in hand. It has greater advantage unlike if the dealer has less than 17; also called soft 17.
  3. Dealer Hits on Soft 17: this played as an option or a rule that is not commonly used, because a lot of casinos ask their dealers to at least go for a 17 or higher. However, it is mostly used in games like Blackjack Switch.

This variation type requires the game's dealer to draw a new card if it's a soft 17 i.e. the number 17 with 1 Ace in hand. This particular variation lightly adds to the edge for the house. Assuming the dealer hits a soft 17, that makes house edge increase by almost 0.2%.
