Baccarat Rules, Learn how to play baccarat

Basically, the game of Baccarat is played from a shoe of 6 or 8 deck. No value is there for the face cards and tens. Counting of the cards less than 10 is based on the face value and aces are valued as 1. But suits are of no matter here, validity is for the single digits only. Left digit is dropped down if there reaches a double digit in any count. For instance, a 5 is considered for a 15 and for a 25 also.

To begin the game, players are required to bet either on Punto or Banco or Standoff. Every player receives two cards by the dealer; First the cards are to be given to the banker and then to the player. Players place the bet on the hand that they think has the highest value.

Either the Player (Punto) or the Bank (Banco) will be dealt by the third card depending upon the following rules of three cards. These rules are not required to get learnt for playing, these decisions are compulsory and hence automatic. A mistake is made only on a rare occasion:

Third-card-rule of the player:

  • If there constitute a total of eight or nine on the initial two cards, either by the bank or the player, no additional cards will be drawn. The resultant will be referred as a natural hand and the hand gets over.
  • If the total of the player is less than or equal to five, a third card is drawn by the hand of the player.
  • If a third card has not been drawn by the player, the stay of the bank's hand will be on 6 or more and a third card is taken constituting a total of 5 or less. If a third card is taken by the player then the third-card-rule of the Bank specified below will determine if a third card is taken by the Bank.

Third-card-rule of the bank:

  • If 2 or less is the total of the bank then a card is drawn by the bank irrespective of knowing the third card of the player.
  • If 3 is the total of the bank then a third card is drawn by the bank, if the third card of the player is not an 8.
  • If 4 is the total of the bank then a third card is drawn by the bank, if the third card of the player is not a 0, 8, 1, or 0.
  • If 5 is the total of the bank then a third card is drawn by the bank, if 7, 6, 5 or 4 is the third card of the player.
  • If 6 is the total of the bank then a third card is drawn by the bank, if a 6 or 7 is the third card of the player.
  • Bank stands if 7 is the total of the bank.

Advantage of the house:

1.17% for the Banker (Banco)
1.36% for the Player (Punto)
14.12% at the payout in the ratio of 8:1 for Standoff (Tie).
