It has been expected that the coming of the massive River's Casino will increase the percentage of problem gambling. Lot of preparations are on in Pittsburgh do deal with problem gambling. A lot of individuals are taking interest to do what it takes to prevent problem gambling.

It is expected that the problem gambling percentage will be up at 5% considering the total population in Pittsburgh. Several of the locals are of opinion that a non-zero percentage by itself is too high and a documented 5% is really a massive number and it is to be dealt with what it takes to prevent people from problem gambling.

The Rivers Casino will be having all kinds of warning signs and posters reflecting the hazards of problem gambling as a measure to notify people of the harms of problem gambling. The employees are being required by the management to take up a course on problem gambling to eventually identify cases of people who are signaling problem gambling. This is being done apart from the regular and mandatory requisites by law to help with problem gambling.

Several gambling counselors have been organized in to a group long before the Rivers Casino did come up, by Jody Bechtold, from the University of Pittsburgh's School of Social Work. The group of counselors of 125 members in total is practicing in the gambling treatment centers.

A lot of new additions to the existing problem gambling treatment programs are expected in addition to a lot of amendments in law. In many cases, where gambling law already existed, problem gambling addiction has been a part of the budget cuts; however, the residents of Pittsburgh are lucky in that the precautionary preparations are on a lot early.
